About the tournament

Open A carries the name of the whole festival – Chess Slovak Open®. It is an international FIDE-rated open played under the Swiss system; in 2026 it was aimed at players rated 2000 and above. The exact conditions of each edition are set by that year’s regulations.

Chess Slovak Open 2027

The 9th edition of Chess Slovak Open takes place on 21–29 August 2027 at the House of Culture, Skalica. The 2027 tournament programme, fields, conditions, entry fees and prizes will be published in the 2027 regulations; registration is not open yet.

Venue – House of Culture, Skalica

The tournaments were played in Skalica’s historic House of Culture. The Art Nouveau building’s massive walls help maintain a naturally comfortable indoor temperature even during the summer.

The 2027 edition will also take place at the House of Culture, Skalica.
