Where to stay in Skalica

Town centre or quieter surroundings?
Staying in the town centre means everything – the playing hall, the main square and restaurants – is within walking distance; the centre can, however, be livelier in the evenings. Accommodation farther from the centre is usually quieter, which may suit players who want calm before their games, but you will need a car or more time to reach the venue.

Tips
- Book early – August is peak season in Skalica.
- The playing hall is at the House of Culture on Námestie slobody – staying in the centre keeps everything within walking distance.

Accommodation at the 2026 edition
In 2026 the organisers recommended the guesthouses Penzión Skalica and Penzión Club in the town centre, and the online registration form allowed players to request accommodation information. Arrangements for 2027 have not been announced yet.
Chess Slovak Open 2027
The 9th edition of Chess Slovak Open takes place on 21–29 August 2027 at the House of Culture, Skalica. The 2027 tournament programme, fields, conditions, entry fees and prizes will be published in the 2027 regulations; registration is not open yet.
