A historic venue for chess
The House of Culture is an Art Nouveau building by the architect Dušan Jurkovič, completed in 1905. It stands on Námestie slobody in the historic centre of Skalica.
The tournaments were played in Skalica’s historic House of Culture. The Art Nouveau building’s massive walls help maintain a naturally comfortable indoor temperature even during the summer.
Chess Slovak Open 2027 at the House of Culture
The 9th edition – Chess Slovak Open 2027, 21–29 August 2027 – will again be played in Skalica’s historic House of Culture. The Art Nouveau building’s massive walls help maintain a naturally comfortable indoor temperature even during the summer.
