GM Aditya Mittal — Chess Slovak Masters 2026, Skalica

Chess Slovak Open® 2026 unveils another star of the closed Chess Slovak Masters tournament. GM Aditya Mittal is heading to Skalica – one of the brightest talents of India’s new generation of chess prodigies.

A grandmaster at sixteen

Aditya Mittal (born 19 September 2006 in Mumbai) earned the grandmaster title at the age of 16 in 2022, becoming India’s 77th grandmaster. His rise is part of the unprecedented wave of young Indian talents reshaping world chess in recent years.

Rising to the world elite

Mittal has won tournaments including the Astana Zhuldyzdary Open (2023), the Werder Bremen Jubilee (2024) and the Almaty Region Open (2025). He owns wins over players such as Arjun Erigaisi, Vincent Keymer and Nils Grandelius. His peak rating of 2624 (2025) lifted him into the world’s top 110; his current rating is 2599.

An elite field in Skalica

Mittal will compete in the closed Chess Slovak Masters 2026 alongside other world-class grandmasters – the organisers are aiming for the strongest average ELO in the event’s history, above 2600. The Chess Slovak Open® 2026 festival takes place 22–30 August 2026 at the House of Culture in Skalica.

We look forward to watching one of world chess’s greatest young talents in action right here in Záhorie!
